This is the 9x9 Variation (not reflective of the board size, all boards are 12 inch by 12 inches), rather the variation of the Game, it is a refreshed Board Design along with an option for 2 different game pieces (Resin or Wood Tokens).

Hnefatafl is also known as The Viking Chess Game. It is a two-player board game where the opposing sides do not have equal numbers. This one of a kind board games is perfect for a unique unforgettable gift or for a board game enthusiast. The beautifully handcrafted game board is made of solid wood and the wood tokens are handcrafted.

I have refreshed the design, I hope you like it. Need to keep the copy-cats on their toes!

New game pieces available, both styles fit nicely into an included satchel bag.

I offer two designs on the back (If you want a custom design of your own, just ask), they are included in the price and any personalization you wish to add to the back as well - like a name or names, saying, dates, etc.. Its what makes the board YOUR board.

I also now offer 2 board sizes, a 1/2 inch that is 12x12, as well as a 3/4 of an inch thick - 12 x12 heavier board. Both are solid, sturdy boards, so it's up to your preference and what fits your personal needs.

Finally, I include instructions for the most common variation of the game, but please note that this game precedes chess by 1400 years... there are a few variations of the game out there.

Most importantly, HAVE FUN.. it is a fast, exciting game. It does require strategy and your play will evolve over time.
